Thinking of Renovating Your Bathroom?
Having difficulty deciding what to do and where to start? Why not look at the expected bathroom trends for 2015 for inspiration. When renovating a bathroom, you need to consider both style and function. In most cases, you have limited space; therefore you want to maximize the functionality in every square inch of that space.
Plus, you want your space to be stylish, on trend and timeless. I would suggest before starting any renovation, that you look at current design trends and determine what design styles and elements you like and don’t like. This will help to give you great ideas and inspiration as to what style elements best suit your tastes.
Take a look at some of the latest design trends that will make a splash in 2015.
2015 Bathroom Trends
Feature Floor Tiles
A great way to add punch to a bathroom is to create a feature tiled floor. This trend was popular in 2014 and will continue to become more popular in 2015. A feature tile floor can add a little extra style to a smaller bathroom. As well, adding a feature floor in a larger sized bathroom can create a dramatic effect.

Natural Finishes
Why not draw some design inspiration from nature. Bathrooms can be cold and sterile, but by adding earthy materials, such as natural stones and wood finishes; you can add warmth and create a calm and serene space. This is one key trend to be expected in 2015.

Freestanding Bathtubs
Nothing represents ‘luxury’ and ‘relaxation’ more that a freestanding bathtub. This can be a striking and sculptural design feature and helps set the mood for rest and relaxation. A bathroom with a freestanding bath can also evoke a feeling of self-indulgence – now who wouldn’t want that.
Freestanding baths come in variety of shapes and sizes. Adding a curved bath can bring softness into the space, whereas an angular bath can add an element of structure.

Master Suite Retreat
People seem to want large ensuite bathrooms. They are looking for a spa-like retreat where they can escape and relax. In 2015 it is expected that more people will want to see their beautifully designed bathrooms. Bathrooms will be larger and they will open to the master bedroom.
If privacy is a concern, incorporating big sliding doors into the design will allow you to open up or close off the space.

Bigger Showers
Larger showers seem to be trending in 2015. We are seeing more walk-in showers with oversized glass panels or solid walls that close off the shower enclosure. It is said that larger showers are spaces for rejuvenation and wellness.

Sustainable
This is not only becoming popular for bathroom renovations alone, this is a global trend. We are seeing more recycled and reclaimed materials and products being used in design. This is becoming even more popular in 2015. There is a growing awareness surrounding sustainable living and this trend will continue.
Wondering how to incorporate this trend into your design? Why not create a focal wall using reclaimed barn board, or perhaps taking an old dresser and transforming it into a vanity.

Shades of Grey
We all know that grey tones were popular in 2014, and this trend will continue in 2015 as well. The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) found grey to be the fastest-growing shade used for the bathroom. Worried it will look flat? Pair the grey tones with crisp whites or add some colour for an extra pop. Choosing materials with different textures will add depth.
There are so many different shades of grey to choose from: warm or cool shades. The grey colour palette can possess a variety of undertones such as browns, blue and greens.
