A Floor Plan that Sets the Tone

The Ivory Marble Interior Design Project began with a significant structural renovation, a second-story addition. But before we could build up, we had to reimagine the main floor. The original layout felt tight and awkward, with a powder room placed directly in the center of the home. This presented a key opportunity to transform the entire space, improving its function, flow, and livability. With a growing family in mind, we designed a new open-concept plan that reflects both thoughtful interior design and long-term practicality.

Layout Reconfiguration for Modern Living

One of the most impactful changes was relocating the powder room to the front corner of the home. This shift unlocked the heart of the main floor, allowing us to open up sightlines and create a better connection between key living spaces. The new layout accommodates a generously sized kitchen, a walk-in pantry, a fully enclosed home office with custom cabinetry, and a striking fireplace and TV feature wall with built-in storage. The flow from the front entry through to the kitchen and living room now feels cohesive and natural, making the entire main floor feel much brighter, more spacious, and inviting.

A Kitchen Designed for Family and Entertaining

At the centre of the main floor is a kitchen designed to meet the needs of daily family life and entertaining alike. We balanced timeless design with a bold focal point: a navy blue shaker island that seats four and serves as the central gathering hub. Above the island, oversized decorative pendant lights in midnight black with burnished brass details add drama. Upper cabinetry in a satin white finish provides contrast, along with a classic white Omnia subway tile backsplash. Hanstone Quartz countertops in Montauk offer a refined yet practical surface; their soft pearl undertone and warm sandy dappling elevate the space with vintage-modern character. Cabinet handles in aurum brushed gold, with arched rectangular forms and beveled contours, add a touch of elegance and sophistication. The layered use of lighting, finishes, and colour creates a kitchen that feels fresh, functional, and beautifully designed.

Functional Beauty in Custom Pantry

Adjacent to the kitchen, the walk-in pantry was designed to complement the main kitchen while providing added utility and style. Continuing the shaker cabinets in the satin white finish, the space includes a continuation of the Montauk quartz countertop, warm white oak floating shelves, and a patterned backsplash clad in Opal White wall décor tile arranged in a brick pattern. The result is both practical and beautiful, a perfect location for a beverage station and hidden appliance storage.

Powder Room with Personality

The powder room makes a strong visual statement and embodies the project’s blend of classic and contemporary. Vintage-inspired black and white Savona Lucca tiles run from the floor up the wall behind the vanity, creating a stunning backdrop. A sage green vanity provides a soft pop of colour, while matte black accents offer crisp contrast. The Bridgeport vanity features transitional full maple shaker fronts, tapered maple legs, and a timeless silhouette. The Zendo single-handle matte black lavatory faucet adds a touch of contemporary flair, with strong lines and a cascade-style water flow. The Derbishone wall sconce in aged gold brass and clear glass dome completes the look with a refined glow, perfectly suited for this high-impact small space.

A Home Office Designed for Focus and Comfort

Tucked at the back of the home, in the new addition, the private home office offers a quiet retreat. Painted in Essex Green, the custom-built-in cabinetry pairs beautifully with a white oak-stained wood countertop. This sophisticated pairing creates a grounded, calming atmosphere ideal for productivity. Sleek matte black pulls bring a modern touch with their refined lines and ergonomic curves. Double wood doors with frosted glass windows allow the space to be closed off when needed, maintaining both privacy and quiet within the open-concept layout.

A Comfortable and Connected Living Room

To enhance the open flow, we created a warm and connected living space centered around a custom fireplace wall. The millwork includes satin white closed cabinetry for storage, open shelving for styling, and a TV niche designed to blend seamlessly into the built-in feature. The fireplace is clad in Classic White Herringbone Polished marble tile, adding a touch of elegance and texture. A custom mantle made of white oak in a natural stain tops the fireplace, lending a grounded, earthy warmth to the room. The living room layout encourages conversation and connection. Whether you’re hosting guests or enjoying a quiet evening at home with family.

A Stylish and Functional Entryway

We transformed the front entry into a functional and welcoming space by incorporating a built-in mudroom cabinet for everyday organization. The floor features Bibulca White Esgona hexagon tile, chosen for its durability and modern, aged-stone aesthetic. Wall panelling adds architectural interest, while integrated hooks and cubbies keep outerwear, bags, and gear neatly stored. A transitional Avallo chandelier in hammered bronze and olde brass floats above the space. Combining whimsy with warmth in a beautiful display of light and craftsmanship.
