Witherspoon Ensuite Project – A White & Modern Ensuite Design
Explore the Witherspoon Ensuite Design. Who doesn’t love a clean classic modern style bathroom? I find a white bathroom always looks fresh, light, and most importantly, clean. The existing two-way fireplace that was no longer used was removed as it created a visual barrier from the primary bedroom into the ensuite.
Once removed, this opened the view and access to the ensuite from the primary bedroom.
Improving the existing layout
The existing bathroom layout was kept with minimal layout changes such as relocating the entrance to the walk-in closet which created more wall space for the vanity.
The existing privacy room for the toilet was kept as-is since the ensuite is an open concept.
Incorporated a larger custom walk-in shower with a bench and niche, and a freestanding soaker bathtub in front of the window.
The entry into the walk-in closet was relocated to be accessed from the primary bedroom. The size of the walk-in closet did not change, just the entry location. Relocating the door to the primary bedroom, allowed us to reorganize and design the shelving and storage in the closet.
It’s all about organized storage
Our client loves her beauty products and we wanted to ensure that she had plenty of storage to organize all her items inside the cabinetry to minimize placement on the countertop.
Relocating the access to the walk-in closet provided more wall space which allowed us to design a large double vanity with a double linen tower for ample storage.
Using a variety of textures and finishes
When you are creating a modern design using mostly white finishes, such as you see here, you need to be strategic and intentional with the use of textures. The cabinetry is a flat white painted surface in Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace, therefore when selecting the tiles for the shower, we opted for a geometric three-dimensional polished tile to contrast the flat texture found on the vanity.
The dynamic movement of this Sleek, modern, and simple of this stunning three-dimensional wall tile creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
The Calacatta quartz countertop has a subtle warm grey veining with a white background that ties the white, grey, and warm tones which are found throughout the ensuite design.
To add some contrast, a mid-tone grey floor tile was installed. The textural irregularities and colour variations of this porcelain tile interact with changing light and creates a shimmering surface.
Every space needs a feature element
Designed a feature wall in wood accent between the bathtub and primary bedroom. Allows for a beautiful visual separation between both spaces.
The feature wall not only offers some privacy but adds an element of warm and natural textures to the overall design that insists on mainly white materials and finishes. The vertical wood slats now allow for plenty of natural light to stream into the ensuite.
Not only did the partition provide more natural light, adding additional recessed light fixtures in the main area, above the shower and vanity provides an amplitude of lighting.
Bold accents
Adding matte black faucets and fixtures creates a bold accent. Carrying through the black finish on the shower frame and hardware carries this beautiful detail across all areas of the ensuite. It is distributed and dispersed evenly across the entire design.
This renovation wouldn’t be complete without replacing the bedroom carpet, updating the double doors and adding detailed baseboard and trim throughout.
We are loving our new primary suite! We really appreciate your help with all of this!!! Thank you so much.
