We’re excited to share a recently completed main bathroom design and renovation project that perfectly demonstrates how thoughtful layout modifications and carefully selected finishes can transform a basic bathroom space into a stunning mid-century modern retreat.

Maximizing Space Through Strategic Design

Our clients approached us with a desire to update their main bathroom while maximizing the available space. The solution lay in making strategic layout modifications without undertaking a complete reconfiguration. By removing the partition wall between the tub/shower area and vanity, then relocating it to the exterior wall, we created a more open and brighter environment that immediately feels more expansive.

Functional Features and Storage Solutions

The design includes the 36” wide Sidney Vanity, a sophisticated wall-mounted piece featuring high-gloss acrylic fronts and striking black walnut veneer side gables. This Canadian-made vanity introduces both warmth and visual interest while staying true to mid-century modern aesthetics.

Design Elements

To enhance the sense of space, we selected ceramic wall tiles from the Soho collection in cloud blue glossy finish. Inspired by the artistic district in lower Manhattan, these tiles carry the same energy of the city that never sleeps, creating a perfect backdrop for this sleek and sophisticated design.

Luxurious Shower Experience:

Functionality was carefully considered throughout the design process. A generously sized shower niche provides ample storage space, while the shower system itself combines practicality with luxury. The Riu collection from Riobel in brushed gold finish exemplifies minimalist design with maximum effect. Its sleek form and rounded, swan-like spout creates a standout piece that performs with both style and grace, featuring both a rain head shower and handheld faucet for practical benefits.

Illuminating Style

The bathroom’s lighting is elevated by the Particles two-light vanity fixture, a piece inspired by scientific matter. Despite its simple appearance, this fixture makes a striking statement with its aged gold brass finish, black rods and arms, and clear glass shade. The design proves that sometimes the most impactful elements come in seemingly simple packages.

Artisanal Tile Work

The floor features large-format square tiles from the Norwich collection in a matte pearl finish. This collection transforms ceramic slab tiles into a canvas for contemporary architectural expression, providing a natural textured finish that grounds the space. The continuous application of the Soho collection wall tiles from the shower to the vanity wall creates an unbroken visual flow, making the bathroom appear longer and more cohesive.

Hardware and Finishing Touches

Attention to detail is evident in the consistent use of matte black accents throughout the space. These details appear in the vanity hardware, shower door, fixtures, and framed mirror, creating a cohesive design language that ties the entire room together. The brushed gold fixtures add warmth and sophistication that complements the mid-century modern aesthetic perfectly.
