A Classic Contemporary Kitchen Transformation

Essence Designs is thrilled to share our lovely interior design project, “Owls Cabin,” where we worked on a classic contemporary kitchen transformation, creating a stunning and functional kitchen and living space for our clients. This transformation brought together a harmonious blend of classic design elements and a neural colour palette, resulting in a truly remarkable space.

Custom Finishes and Touches of Elegance

One of the standout features of the Owls Cabin kitchen is the custom cabinetry. For the upper cabinets, we opted for a timeless and sophisticated look of Shaker Doors finished in Satin Whitecap. This choice not only creates a clean and bright ambiance but also adds an element of understated elegance to the space. The lower cabinets, with the same door profile are finished in Nimbus, a warm taupe which provides a subtle contrast, lending a modern touch to the overall design.

Elevated Backsplash Design

To create a focal point in the kitchen, we installed the Tinte Grigio Chiaro Lucido backsplash tile in a vertical pattern. If you love exposed bricks and the warmth that they inevitably give to your home, the Tinte collection is a great choice. This eye-catching feature adds texture and visual interest, while its warm soft gray hues perfectly complement the cabinetry choices and the Hanstone Calacatta Venato countertop. The sleek and glossy surface of the tile reflects light, adding depth and creating an inviting atmosphere in the kitchen.

Exquisite Brass Accents

To enhance the overall aesthetic and add a touch of luxury, we carefully selected cabinet hardware in a brushed brass finish. The warm tones of the brass harmonize beautifully with the neutral color palette, elevating the elegance of the space. The hardware not only serves a functional purpose but also adds a decorative element, contributing to the overall design aesthetic.

Lighting Enhances the Kitchen’s Ambiance

New lighting fixtures were strategically placed to illuminate the kitchen and enhance its functionality. A new pendant light fixture installed above the sink provides focused task lighting, while recessed lighting throughout the space creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The careful placement of lighting fixtures highlights the beauty of the cabinetry, backsplash, and other design elements.

The Bold Beauty of a Black Faucet

In keeping with the classic contemporary theme, we chose a sleek black faucet to complement the overall design. The black finish adds a bold and contemporary element to the kitchen, creating a striking contrast against the lighter cabinetry and backsplash. This thoughtful selection adds a touch of sophistication and complements the overall design scheme.

Elevating the Design with a Timeless Paint Color

We selected Benjamin Moore Steam as the wall paint color, one of our favourites. This soft and neutral shade enhances the tranquility of the space while allowing the other design elements to take center stage. The wall color acts as a backdrop, providing a cohesive and calming environment that beautifully showcases the cabinetry, backsplash, and other design elements.

Relaxed but Elegant Living Room

In the living room, our goal was to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We achieved this by installing a custom fireplace mantle surrounded by Akros Ateneo Blanc Matte wall tile, which adds texture and visual interest. The fireplace mantle, painted in Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, serves as an elegant centerpiece. Simple natural maple shelves were added to provide display space for cherished items. 

Natural Maple Hardwood Flooring Transforming the Space

The flooring throughout the main floor was updated with new maple hardwood. This natural material adds warmth and character to the space, creating a seamless transition between the kitchen and adjoining areas. The natural grain patterns and rich hues of the hardwood flooring perfectly complement the modern elegant farmhouse style.
