Thornecrest Kitchen Design Project

Essence Designs was hired to completely transform and reconfigure this main floor in order to design a larger open concept kitchen. Here is the Thornecrest kitchen design project.

Kitchens are oftentimes the heart of the home serving as the preferred gathering place that allows you to cook for and entertain your guests. This particular kitchen layout was the exact opposite, it was completely closed off from the rest of the main floor including a separate dining room, making it small and leaving little room for large gatherings.

We decided to completely transform and reconfigure this main floor in order to design a larger open concept kitchen that would fit my client’s expanding family needs.

Working with an existing footprint

We removed most of the walls between the existing kitchen and dining room and relocated the powder room. This new configuration allowed us to design a kitchen that was at least double in size and provided ample storage and working space.

This new kitchen design includes plenty of storage, a double wall oven, a large island, a pantry, and a wet bar, all while keeping a small breakfast area.

It’s all about the details

This is where you can find me! The wet bar is in the perfect location – between the kitchen & family room! This allows, not only the host but guests to help themselves.

Don’t you just love the stained finish of the shaker maple cabinets?! If you aren’t a fan of white kitchens, selecting a mid-tone wood stain is a great alternative option. It’s a classic finish that will have longevity. Wood-stained cabinets offer warmth to a kitchen as you can see.

The veining of the silver dream granite countertop paired with the subtle dimpled surface of the backslash tile in a matte finish complements the cabinetry without becoming too overpowering.

“There isn’t a day I’m not grateful and happy with our little piece of heaven! Thank you!”
