Spring is the perfect time to spruce up your home to give it a fresh and updated look. After a long and cold winter, it’s always nice to add a few decorative touches that incorporate some of those beautiful spring colours (and scents).
Each spring I really enjoy making small changes or updates to my home. I may incorporate a new bold colour into my décor that I happen to love or I may decide to update my upstairs bathroom (which is exactly what I did this past April).
Incorporating spring inspired accessories can add bursts of bright colour into your space. Choose accessories with bold colours, energetic patterns that include lively springtime motifs. Just a few small touches using the right tones and patterns can effortlessly transition your home into a fresh, spring inspired look.
In today’s post I am going to give you a few tips on what’s hot for this spring. Below are 5 super quick (and inexpensive) ways that you can bring spring into your home.
1 – Citrus Colours
Bright and sunny tones like yellows and oranges can instantly transform your living room and can make any room feel bright and cheerful.
I don’t know about you, but bright yellow and vibrant orange colours just make me happy!
You should take note that these tones can be a little intense for some. If you feel that these colours can be a little much, why not incorporate them in smaller amounts, such as your accessories. Add some brightly coloured decorative accents or patterned pillows.
A few examples of accessories that you can purchase in a new bold colour are:
- Candles and Holders
- Decorative Objects
- Planters & Terrariums
- Baskets & Boxes
- Pillows & Throws
- Mirrors & Clocks

2 – Patterned Wallpaper
An exciting trend this spring is the use of patterned wallpaper. Wallpaper is still coming back strong with more and more fantastic prints and patterns to choose from.
Flowers have always been an inspiration in both textile and wallpaper designs. You can find some beautiful contemporary, floral, patterned wallpaper. I can’t think of a better way to bring spring inside than to install bright, floral wallpaper.
Geometric wallpaper designs are also a great option if you are looking to create a bold statement if you are not fond of floral patterns.
If you feel that wallpaper may be too costly, a great cost effective solution to incorporate prints and patterns to your room is to frame wallpaper or fabric. Fabric can be purchased by the yard (or half yard) and wallpaper samples are usually free. Voila, you have your own colourful unique piece of artwork.
3 – Bold Paint Colours
Painting is the one of the most inexpensive solutions when you are looking to spruce up any room.
Whether you paint just one accent wall or the entire room, one can of paint has the ability to simply transform an entire room.
Looking for a bold colour choice? Search for colour combinations found in nature! How about finding inspiration from your favourite spring flower or the ocean?
If you are new to bold colour choices, start small. Try to find subtle ways to incorporate these bold shades into your room. For example, paint an accent wall or try painting the back of a bookcase.
Get creative! Why not paint a striped accent wall? When using paint, the possibilities are endless.

4 – Fruits and Flowers
One of the best ways to bring spring indoors is to incorporate fresh fruits and flowers into your decorative accents.
Choose any of your favourite flowers; place them in a decorative vase to add a delicate touch to your room. Any floral arrangement can create a beautiful centerpiece which can become the focal point of any room.
Each type of floral can evoke a different feeling. For instance, white tulips can create elegance; whereas pinks, blues and purple flowers can create whimsy while incorporating colour into your space.
Looking for something a little more rustic? Use branches or twigs to create a tall arrangement or focal point.
Incorporating florals and fruits into your décor are perfect for finishing touches. Plus they smell great too!
Look to nature’s colour palette for your inspiration.
5 – Warm Pastels
Another trend we are seeing this spring is the use of warm pastel tones such as dusty pinks, feminine lavenders and soft greens.
This is a great alternative if bold colours and bossy patterns are not your particular style. Choosing softer colours palettes create a soothing and elegant atmosphere. Perfect for bedrooms or any other space where you like to relax.
Warm pastels are great to be used as a backdrop. I would suggest painting the entire room in the same pastel shade. Pastel colours are best used when you are creating a monotone colour palette. Pair your wall shade with black, white or grey furniture to create a sophisticated look.
