2014 In Reflection

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great Holiday Season. Here’s to a fantastic new year.

A new year can sometimes be seen as a fresh start. An opportunity to try new things or finally get to the things you couldn’t quite fit into last year.

It’s also a time to reflect on the past year.

I had a great 2014. Lots of exciting things happened last year:

  • My sister got engaged! Whoo hoo! I’m in charge of making sure it looks gorgeous
  • I took a quick trip to Florida, went to Universal Studio and Islands of Adventure. I love amusements parks
  • I finally got to go to California! I can definitely see myself living there

Last year I decided to do something that was completely outside my comfort zone and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience.

I registered for the 2014 Tone It Up Fitness Retreat held in Newport Beach, California. This 4 day retreat was attended by 300 women from all over the world. I follow Tone It Up and love the positive energy and encouragement from all the ladies that are a part of this fitness community. So when Tone It Up announced they were hosting a retreat, I knew I had to be a part of it.

If you aren’t familiar with Tone It Up, you should definitely check them out. They offer great lean, clean and green recipes, free workout videos and lots more. Want a workout routine that will kick you booty? Try one of their HIIT workouts! You’ll thank me.

So… In September, I jetted off to Cali on my own to attend the retreat. It was a little nerve wracking not knowing anyone at the retreat, but I figured everyone was in the same situation. All the girls were so excited and we all became instant friends.

We worked out together, ate yummy healthy foods and snacks, and danced all night long! The amount of activaties and events that were packing into those 4 days was amazing and I think it took me a full week to recuperate when I got home.

Worth every penny!

Here is a quick glimpse into the 2014 Tone It Up Retreat:

Day 1

First Night Welcoming Party at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Newport Beach, California

Day 2

9am Booty Call with all 300 TIU members that attended the retreat

That afternoon I headed off to Newport Pier for a surfing lesson with Endless Sun Surf School and finished the day with a paddle boarding lesson.

Let me tell you, when I woke up the next morning, muscle in my body that I didn’t know existed ached.

That evening we headed to Muddy Canon Beach at Sunset for dinner and an intimate concert on the beach.

Day 3

We all started the morning with a 5K run around the resort with a Champaign shower at the finish line.

That afternoon my agenda included cycling along Back Bay Drive and a 2 mile hike in Crystal Cove State Park.

Our last night included a gala dinner with dancing that went well into the morning hours. We were surprised with guest DJ Nick Cannon!

Day 4

We all gathered on the last morning for a yoga session before breakfast. After all the group activities and partying, we all needed a relaxing morning. Before heading home, we all said our goodbye and packed up our swag, and headed to the airport! Not before heading the Fashion Island for a little shopping!

And in this new year, I have a few things to share:
