I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the guest post series from OGC.

If you’ve been following our “Homes of the Future” blog post series, you’ve already seen some amazing innovations in the world of architecture and home gadgetry. In this edition, we’ve selected even more amazing examples of  futuristic homes that you just have to see!

TubiQ Houseboats

Many have speculated that houseboats are one of the most promising prospects for homes of the future. With sea levels rising and land becoming more crowded, real estate on the water doesn’t sound too out there.  TubiQ makes custom futuristic houseboats that can be put together and expanded upon any way you like.  Their innovative design offers luxury living on any scale, and fully sustainable energy.

Seamless Architecture

As we find more and more future architecture concepts, we notice that designers are going for a smoother, less-disjointed style.  Open concept floorplans and continuous lines are in, and for good reason. Not only do they create a unique contemporary look, but they’re also more soothing for your senses. In such areas, you’ll feel less boxed-in, and more inclined to “go with the flow” of things.

Blue Forest Treehouses

Any city-dweller will tell you that one of their biggest complaints is the noise. With so many people living in close-quarters, and traffic lying just a few feet away from buildings, it can be nearly impossible to find peace in an urban home. This can also be a problem in the suburbs.  Blue Forest Treehouses are the solution. Not only are they whimsically beautiful, they’re specially engineered to block out harsh sounds. Even the appliances inside the home are built to run quietly.

Tell us what you think of these awesome futuristic houses! And be sure to check out our next edition of “Homes of the Future”.

“I have called Calgary my home for over 40 years. In that time I have witnessed a transformation from a small City on the prairies to a bustling urban destination. As I drive through neighborhoods I get to witness historical homes that were designed for a specific purpose or function in that community.

In a similar manner, I think every home design or renovation project should reflect how the family functions within that space.  My experience as an Architectural Technologist, Designer, Builder, Developer, Realtor and former City Inspector gives me a unique perspective on any renovation projects or new home designs. I am proud to bring my experience to my clients at Calgary General Contractors.
